A Tarleton Defensive Win!

Yesterday, we played our good friends from Abilene Christian University. The Texans won 13-6! I predicted all along that this would be a defensive battle and boy it was. These are the games that make all the hard work your husband does each week worth while. Can I tell you how proud I was of him? Abilene was ranked the #1 team in America just two weeks ago. Last night, our defense held them to NO touchdowns in a game for the first time since 2001. Our defense was on the field for a whopping 38 minutes and 11 seconds. (Their defense completely tore our offense apart, btw.) During the time that our defense was on the field, we sacked their quarterback 7 times. Usually, when the game is very low scoring and your defense is on the field almost the entire game, they wear down. Our guys played with extreme intensity up until the very end. I was so proud of them. After the game, I tried to find each one. It is so sad when they do such a good job and have no family to come up and give them a big hug after the game. I just love each one of those guys. A lot of them go through some difficult times in their personal lives. Our husbands not only serve as a coach but a lot of times as a father figure too. Again, I am just so proud of them and my husband too!
On the other hand, even though winning a big game was great, it is not easy when you play good friends. Truth is, it is hard to celebrate or get excited when you know exactly what someone is going through on the other side and knowing the extreme let down they are feeling. We have all been there! I am just glad that this year I have made some wonderful friends that are coaches wives and we all know what each other goes through both good and bad.
We met our good friend, Whitney, at Hard 8 before the game. I was so glad that we finally got a chance to talk face-to-face and catch up instead of "texting" and "FBing" all day! :) I also got to meet her dad (I just love meeting dads!) and her sister and brother inlaw as well. The best part was letting all of our little girls play together. They became instant friends and Morgan even came to sit and hang out with Sophi on our side of the field for the second half of the game.
AN EXTRA BIG THANK YOU TO OUR WEST TEXAS FRIEND JENNIFER!!! She is one of our other "coaches wife friend" and she made these ADORABLE shirts for all the girls to wear. Is that not the nicest thing ever?!?! I get to meet Jennifer in two weeks when we play West Texas.

Here is a picture of Brady and Sophi before the game at the balloon release. They have been friends since Sophi was born!
Little girls are so cute. At one point in the game, the score was 6-6. Both Sophi and Morgan asked me if the score was "tied" because that meant that BOTH of their daddys were the BEST coaches?!?! I just thought that was precious. Well, after the game, the same two little girls were playing football on the field with some little boys. I looked over at one point and both Sophi and Morgan had a little boy tackled on the ground! I guess the both listen and learn from their daddys too!!! hahaha!Nana and Papaw were here for the game too. We always love it when they come to spend the weekend with us. Bella cried so hard when they left. Anytime family leaves it is so hard on the girls.
Our faithful TEXAN supporters from Wichita Falls were also there. Yay for Darrell, Kelli, Brady, and Ty Cotton! You all are TROOPERS for making that long drive to our games and we really appreciate your support! We haven't lost with yall in the stands yet, so now you have to come to the West Texas game!!!
And here are the two little buddies....Bella and Ty! Next Saturday will be the first game EVER that I have not either been to the game or listened to it. It is Halloween and I am helping host our annual Halloween Costume Party with the Cottons. I am going to have to pull up either the radio link or stats on their computer or have my cell phone in my hand all night. I am going to go nuts!!!! Ha! I can't believe it is only a week until Halloween! Where has this month gone????

We can go crazy together...I have to work next Saturday so I won't get to listen to it, however, we have TVs at work and so I'm hoping to have a baby that needs lots of loving so I can just sit and rock and watch the game...we'll see...usually doesn't happen that way so it should be interesting.

Darn TSU DEFENSE! Ha ha! :) Had so much fun with y'all! We could sit and talk for HOURS I'm sure! Maybe after football season is over we can meet halfway for lunch and actually do that! Congrats on your win!
